Individual Therapy

What to Expect

In individual therapy, you will have a supportive and sacred space to explore your inner world, break free from unhealthy patterns, process attachment trauma, and feel feelings you never felt safe to feel – all in the presence of an attuned other. Your sessions will be collaborative and relational, with a focus on getting to know you beneath the surface.

Your therapist will help you explore the inner workings of your unconscious world, understand and shift away from painful relationship patterns, and increase both self-awareness and self-compassion. Ideally, your symptoms will decrease, you will relate differently to yourself and to others, and you will experience a sense of freedom as you move through the world authentically, and with an openness for healthy intimacy.

Depending on your goals, therapy may focus on concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, identity questions, stress, grief, or major life transitions. Over time, the focus and goals can shift as we discover more of what is beneath your symptoms.

The therapeutic relationship itself can be reparative, as it allows a new emotional experience, deeper relational healing, healthy and safe attachment, and authentic connection. Individual therapy, with the right therapist for you, can be transformative and life-altering.

The benefits of Individual Therapy

Individual therapy offers the space for you to better understand yourself, your emotions, and the patterns shaping your life. The therapeutic relationship offers an opportunity to put down your protective layers, allowing yourself to be fully seen and witnessed in the presence of a safe person who welcomes all parts of you.

Therapy is not about fixing anything you deem broken. It is a sacred relationship where we work together to understand you more deeply, process painful past and present experiences, repair old attachment wounds, and increase your capacity for intimacy with both yourself and others.

Individual therapy will help you establish greater self-awareness, healthier coping strategies, a stronger sense of self-trust and knowing, and clearer decision-making. Individual therapy can also help foster healthier relationships, decrease psychosomatic symptoms, improve emotional balance, and support meaningful personal growth that translates into lasting change.
